Rooms To Go Celebrates Over 30 Years of Going Green
At Rooms To Go, going green is more than just a fad, it's a way of life. 1992
Rooms To Go's first cardboard recycling program launches with the goal of reducing the amount of solid waste sent straight to the landfill. A 39 person team is appointed to sort out cardboard waste from the left over packaging sent back the distribution center following furniture deliveries.
1996
The successful recycling program, which recovered 800 tons of cardboard waste in its first year, is expanded to include plastics.
1999
A wood recycling program is introduced to the effective program.
2006
A Styrofoam recycling program was introduced giving the company the ability to recover all four of the main recyclable conditions to the effective program.
2015
A state-of-the-art recycling center within the newest distribution center in Dunn, N.C. further reduces the company's environmental footprint.
2022
As Rooms To Go continues our success in the furniture industry, the company's recycling efforts have prevented over 425,000 tons of solid waste from entering the landfill.
