How much weight can this power lift chair support, and how do I know if it’s the right fit for me?
This chair is engineered for durability and is rated to support a weight capacity of up to 350 lbs. With an overall width of 32.5 inches, it offers a compact footprint that fits well in most living rooms while providing a supportive, classic seat. To ensure an ergonomic fit, our experts recommend that your feet rest comfortably on the floor when seated, and your head should be fully supported by the 40-inch high pillow back.
Will the chair still work if there is a power outage?
Many of our power reclining systems are designed with a basic battery backup located in the power transformer (usually requiring two 9-volt batteries). This backup provides enough temporary power to return the chair to an upright or standing position if the electricity goes out. For residents in areas prone to seasonal storms or frequent power interruptions, we recommend verifying the battery compartment under the chair and replacing the batteries annually to ensure the lift function remains reliable at all times.
What is the primary benefit of a power lift mechanism compared to a standard recliner?
Unlike a traditional recliner that only tilts the back and raises the footrest, a power lift chair features an electric motor that tilts the entire base of the chair forward to assist you in standing up. This is an essential safety feature for individuals with mobility challenges. While Medicare coverage policies vary, they typically only consider reimbursement for the motorized lift mechanism itself (rather than the furniture as a whole) when prescribed by a doctor for conditions such as severe arthritis or neuromuscular disease.
How much clearance is needed behind the chair to operate the reclining and lifting functions?
With a depth of 39 inches and a height of 40 inches, you should position the chair with approximately 12 to 18 inches of clearance from the wall to allow for a full recline without obstruction. To ensure safe operation in your home, it is equally important to keep the area in front of the chair clear so the footrest can extend and the lift base can tilt forward without hitting other furniture or rugs.
Can I use this chair for sleeping or during recovery from a hip or knee surgery?
This chair is exceptionally well-suited for post-surgical recovery or napping due to its plush pillow-top arms and pillow-back design, which provide cradling comfort for the upper body. The power reclining feature allows for precise positioning, which is often necessary when sleeping in a standard bed is difficult following a procedure. Additionally, the lift-assist function reduces significant strain on the joints, making it much safer to transition to a standing position during the healing process.
Is the polyester upholstery a good choice for high-traffic homes or those with pets?
The 100% polyester upholstery on this chair is an excellent choice for active households. Polyester is highly valued for its inherent durability and resistance to stretching and piling. Based on our material care guidelines, this fabric is also simple to maintain; most common household spills can be spot-cleaned using a soft cloth with warm water and a light, mild detergent.

I bought it for my 86-year-old Mom, and she practically lives it. She Loves it!
Overall the chair is comfortable and works for what I needed. I need a chair to help me get up after surgery. This chair is very firm and sturdy for that. I gave it four out of five stars because it does not allow me to sit more upright and lift my feet at the same time. The back of the chair drops down as the feet go up.
The person it was purchased for is still hospitalized so haven’t had a chance to use it
A Good Choice
I purchased two of these recliners for use in an Assisted Living setting. Although they are a firmer style of chair, there have been no complaints. The chair can recline all the way back and it will fully lift a person to assist in standing from the sitting position. I recommend this chair for anyone that needs a little help in getting up.
