Armitage Off-White Chest

Standing at 61 inches tall with a width of 41.4 inches, this vertical chest is an ideal storage solution for rooms where floor space is limited. By prioritizing height, it provides five deep drawers for clothing organization without encroaching on valuable walkway space. This "high-boy" silhouette is a preferred choice for urban apartment living or secondary bedrooms where maximizing vertical storage is essential.

Yes, this chest features solid wood framing to ensure a sturdy and stable foundation. To further increase strength, the frame is built with reinforced corner blocks, which help the unit maintain its shape and prevent racking or wobbling over time. The exterior is finished with premium pecan veneers, which offer the sophisticated aesthetic of natural wood grain while providing excellent resistance to warping in varying climates.

This piece draws inspiration from 18th-century architecture, featuring sophisticated molding and a classic traditional silhouette. The design is grounded by outwardly canted bun feet, which provide both stability and a decorative flourish. These traditional elements are modernized by the off-white finish and light cast knob hardware, allowing the chest to blend seamlessly into both formal and transitional bedroom settings.

This chest is engineered for long-term durability using professional joinery techniques. The five drawers are constructed with English dovetail fronts and French dovetail backs, a hallmark of high-quality furniture that ensures the drawer box remains structurally sound over years of use. Additionally, the drawers operate on ball bearing glides, providing a smooth, consistent motion even when the drawers are fully loaded with clothing.

Safety is a primary consideration for tall vertical storage. Standing at 5 feet tall, this chest should be anchored to the wall using an anti-tip kit. Anchoring is a vital safety measure in all homes, particularly those with children or pets, as it prevents the unit from tipping forward if multiple drawers are opened simultaneously or if the furniture is subjected to uneven pressure.

Based on our expertise in wood furniture care, we recommend dusting the chest regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent debris buildup. For minor stains or spills, use a light solution of mild soap and warm water, ensuring the surface is dried immediately afterward. It is critical to avoid harsh chemical cleaners or silicon-based polishes, as these can damage the pecan veneers and dull the off-white finish over time.
