holden dining room with bench

Yes. With a depth of 36 inches, this table has a slimmer profile than many traditional dining pieces, making it an excellent fit for narrower spaces or "pass-through" dining areas. Its 36-inch height also creates an "airy" aesthetic by keeping more of the floor visible, which can help a compact room feel less crowded. Furthermore, the included leaf extension provides the versatility to keep the table at a smaller footprint for daily use while expanding it for guests.

A counter height table, which stands at approximately 36 inches tall, offers a more casual and social atmosphere compared to standard 30-inch dining sets. This elevated height is particularly effective in open-concept floor plans, as it visually aligns with kitchen islands and counters to create a seamless transition between the cooking and dining zones. Additionally, the increased height can improve sightlines in rooms with views of a deck or backyard.

To ensure optimal comfort and ergonomics, you should pair this table with stools that have a seat height of 24 to 26 inches. Based on our expertise in furniture scale, this height provides the standard 10 to 12 inches of "lap room" required for guests to sit comfortably without feeling cramped against the tabletop.

One of the most practical aspects of a counter height table is its versatility. Because it matches the standard 36-inch height of kitchen countertops, it can serve as a functional extension of your kitchen for food preparation or as a comfortable standing-height desk. This makes it an ideal solution for multi-functional homes where the dining table often serves as a hub for remote work, school projects, or casual entertaining.

This table is crafted with hickory veneers, a material highly regarded in the furniture industry for its natural strength and resistance to wear. Hickory features a distinct, organic wood-grain texture that adds earthy warmth to a room. By using a high-quality veneer over a stable core, the piece achieves the rich look and feel of solid wood while gaining enhanced resistance to the warping or cracking that can occur with temperature and humidity changes.

Absolutely. The contemporary trestle base is designed to provide maximum stability while stylishly grounding the piece. Unlike tables with four corner legs, a trestle base often allows for more flexible seating arrangements and increased legroom, as guests are less likely to encounter a table leg when sliding into their seats or pulling in an extra bench for larger gatherings.
