Q&A answers generated with AI assistance.
Is a solid wood bunk bed sturdy enough for active children?
Yes, this bed is engineered for exceptional durability using solid New Zealand pine wood, a material known for its strength and natural resilience. The structural integrity is further reinforced by solid plywood slats and a metal support bar, allowing for a high resting weight capacity of 400 pounds per sleeping surface. This robust construction makes it an ideal choice for high-traffic kids' rooms.
What is the recommended age for a child to use the top bunk?
For safety reasons, it is a standard industry guideline that children should be at least 6 years old before using the top bunk. To further ensure sleep security, this bed is designed with 15-inch guardrails, which provide a significant safety barrier to prevent accidental falls during the night.
Does this bunk bed require the purchase of a box spring or bunkie board?
No, a box spring or bunkie board is not required for this model. This bed includes a complete slat roll system supported by a metal bar, which provides the necessary foundation for your mattresses. This "mattress-ready" design not only simplifies assembly but also helps maintain a lower profile, which is particularly beneficial for safety on the top bunk.
Will this bed fit comfortably in an urban apartment or a room with standard 8-foot ceilings?
This bunk bed is a space-saving solution well-suited for smaller living spaces. With an assembled height of 63.25 inches, it leaves approximately 32 inches of clearance in a room with standard 8-foot (96-inch) ceilings. This provides ample headroom for a child to sit up comfortably on the top bunk, making it a practical choice for urban homes or rooms where vertical space must be optimized.
What mattress thickness is required for the top bunk to ensure safety?
To maintain the effectiveness of the 15-inch safety guardrails, we recommend using a 5-inch thick twin mattress on the top bunk. While the bed can accommodate a mattress up to 8 inches thick, a lower profile mattress ensures that the safety rails remain well above the sleeping surface. Both the top and bottom bunks are designed to fit standard twin-size mattresses.
How should I clean and maintain the white finish to ensure it stays looking new?
To protect the durable, non-toxic, low-VOC finish, our care experts recommend dusting the wood regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For minor stains, use a cloth dampened with mild soap and water, and avoid harsh chemical cleaners which can degrade the finish over time. Periodically checking and tightening the assembly hardware will also ensure the bed remains stable and squeak-free as your children grow.

Solid bunkbed choice
I’m very impressed by the quality of this bunkbed. It’s sturdier than expected and having the metal connector really gives it strength to the top and bottom beds. Assembly using a drill is key to success, as hand spinning all the bolts would have taken days. Overall way better than expected!
Misinformed
I ordered this a few ago and was told that someone from Rooms To Go would be coming over to assemble it since I was moving at the time. Now I'm being told that it's a self assembly. The movers who moved the couch in said that Rooms To Go does assemble but again being told they don't. To be honest I'm not impressed with the communication and don't know if I would be buying from Rooms To Go again.
Great Kids bunk
Not a good choice for a fatty like me but my grandkids love it.
