What are the benefits of the drawer construction used in the included chest?
The coordinating loft chest is built for durability, featuring drawers with front French dovetail joints. Dovetailing is a hallmark of quality furniture construction, providing a strong, interlocking join that resists pulling apart over time. Combined with side-mounted, ball-bearing glides, these drawers are designed to remain stable and open smoothly even after years of daily use by an active child.
Are stairs safer than a ladder for an elevated bed?
Staircase entries are widely considered the safest option for children's loft beds, especially for younger kids or those who may need to get up during the night. The wide, flat steps on this bed provide much better stability and surface area for feet compared to thin ladder rungs. As an added benefit for smaller rooms, the staircase on this model features built-in storage drawers in the steps to maximize every inch of the bed's footprint.
At what age is it safe for a child to start using a loft bed?
For safety reasons, the CPSC recommends that children be at least 6 years old before using the top bunk of a traditional loft or bunk bed. However, this specific model is a "low loft" design, standing just under 51 inches tall. This lower profile, combined with a sturdy staircase instead of a ladder, makes it a safer and more approachable transition for younger children who are ready for an elevated bed but not yet ready for a full-height loft.
Is this loft bed suitable for a bedroom with low or slanted ceilings?
Yes, this bed is an excellent solution for rooms with height constraints, such as attic bedrooms or homes with standard 8-foot ceilings. Because the total height is only 50.88 inches, it leaves ample "headroom" between the mattress and the ceiling, allowing your child to sit up comfortably and safely. We recommend maintaining at least 30 to 36 inches of clearance from the top of the mattress to the ceiling for optimal safety.
Can the staircase be installed on either side of the bed frame?
Flexibility is key when arranging a small room, and this bed features a reversible staircase that can be affixed to either the left or right side. This allows you to tuck the bed into a corner or align it with your specific room layout without blocking windows or closet doors. Additionally, the chest and bookcase are separate components that fit neatly under the loft, offering further customization for your child's space.
How does this loft bed help maximize space in a small bedroom or apartment?
This "all-in-one" sleep system is designed to replace several pieces of furniture, making it ideal for space-constrained urban living. Within a footprint of approximately 103 inches, you are effectively placing a twin bed, a three-drawer chest, and a 37-inch bookcase. The integrated design eliminates the need for a separate dresser and shelving unit, freeing up significant floor space for a play area or a desk.
What kind of mattress support is required for this loft bed?
To ensure the safety and longevity of the bed frame, this model requires a bunkie board (sold separately) to support the mattress. A bunkie board provides a slim, solid foundation that offers the necessary support without the height of a traditional box spring. Using a bunkie board ensures that the mattress sits low enough for the guardrails to remain effective, keeping your child secure while they sleep.

Love it!
This bed is perfect for my 7 year old! We got the full size and it's so cute and has a little "secret room" underneath she goes and reads books. It's seriously the cutest set up and it's more her age than regular beds.
