Q&A answers generated with AI assistance.
How much storage space is included with this storage bed?
To maximize organization in a child’s bedroom, this bed features dual storage side rails that provide a significant amount of under-bed utility. In total, the bed offers four open compartments and two center drawers. This integrated design is ideal for stowing away extra linens, bulky toys, or a growing book collection without requiring additional floor space for a chest or dresser.
Does this bed require a box spring or a bunkie board for the mattress?
While specific foundation requirements can vary by mattress type, storage beds of this style often benefit from a low-profile bunkie board. This provides a flat, sturdy surface that supports the mattress without adding excess height that might obscure the decorative panel headboard or posters. Please note that the mattress and foundation are sold separately.
Can this bed transition with my child into their teenage years?
Yes, the design of the South Bend collection is specifically intended to be a "timeless heirloom" piece. The traditional poster design and sophisticated brown cherry finish offer a classic symmetry that appeals to both younger children and teenagers. This makes it a high-value investment that stays stylish as your child’s tastes and room decor evolve over time.
Is this full-size bed a good choice for a small bedroom or urban apartment?
This bed is an excellent solution for smaller living spaces where every square inch counts. With dimensions of approximately 59"w x 84.5"d, it provides the comfort of a full-size sleeping surface while the built-in storage rails eliminate the need for extra storage furniture. Our expertise in small-space living suggests that utilizing the footprint of the bed for organization helps keep the room feeling open and clutter-free.
What makes the construction of this poster bed durable enough for a child's room?
This bed is crafted with birch veneers in a deep brown cherry finish, chosen for its strength and resistance to daily wear. For enhanced structural integrity, the storage drawers are built using a combination of French dovetail joints in the front and English dovetail joints in the back—a hallmark of high-quality furniture construction. Additionally, the drawers utilize side-mounted ball-bearing glides to ensure smooth, reliable operation even when handled frequently by children.
Are the storage drawers easy for a child to open and close independently?
Every detail is designed with the user in mind. The storage drawers are equipped with smooth-motion, side-mounted ball-bearing glides, which prevent the drawers from sticking or derailment. Large, easy-to-grip wooden knobs round out the design, making it simple for children to access their belongings and take ownership of organizing their own space.

Purchased the full size bed but when I put the full size mattress on there is a huge gap at either the top of the bed or the bottom. I have to put a body pillow in the gap so my child doesn’t fall through.
The bed is beautiful, my daughter just loves it!!
