Cleona Denim 8' x 10' Rug

To maintain the soft texture and "flowing dimension" of a plush shag rug, our experts recommend using a vacuum with the beater bar turned off or set to the highest carpet setting to avoid pulling at the long fibers. For deeper maintenance, synthetic rugs like this one can be spot-cleaned with a mild detergent and cool water. If the pile begins to flatten in specific areas, a quick "fluff" with a rug rake or by hand can help restore its luxurious, relaxed look.

This shag rug is power-loomed using durable synthetic polypropylene yarns, which are specifically engineered for longevity and color retention. Unlike natural fibers, polypropylene is non-absorbent and naturally resistant to moisture and staining, allowing the rug to stay "bright and beautiful year after year." This makes it an excellent choice for those who want the lush, "thick pile" aesthetic without the high-maintenance requirements of wool.

An 8' x 10' rug is a versatile size that serves as an anchor for various room layouts. In a standard living room, it is large enough for the front legs of your sofa and accent chairs to rest on the rug, which helps define the seating zone. For bedrooms, this size fits perfectly under the lower two-thirds of a queen or king-size bed, providing a soft, warm landing for your feet while maintaining a balanced, cohesive look.

Because this rug is power-loomed using high-quality synthetic yarns, it is significantly less prone to the heavy shedding typically associated with hand-tufted or wool shag rugs. The machine-weaving process secures the fibers more tightly into the backing, ensuring the "posh color palette" and soft texture remain intact even with regular use.

While the synthetic yarns are exceptionally durable, the high-pile "shag" style is best suited for low-to-medium traffic areas like bedrooms, dens, or formal sitting rooms. In very high-traffic zones, the long fibers may mat over time. To preserve the "soft texture" and prevent flattening, consider using this rug in spaces where you want to add "softening balance" to clean-lined furniture rather than in narrow thoroughfares.

A synthetic shag rug is often a preferred choice for families because the polypropylene material is stain-resistant and easy to blot clean. However, the deep, lush pile can trap pet hair or small debris more easily than a low-pile rug. We recommend placing this rug in areas where comfort is a priority—such as a nursery, playroom, or "modern living room"—and using a regular cleaning routine to keep the fibers fresh.
