Beautiful but delicate

I received the product damaged on three occasions. The first time, it had paint flaking off the headboard. I requested a replacement which they gave a week later but that one had the same problem. Requested another replacement a week later and that one had a problem with the wood being warped (I could clearly see a seam along the headboard where the light was inserted which wasn't present on the previous two). I didn't want to deal with any more replacements so instead they offered me a different set and full credit towards any other set. I hated that idea because I didn't like anything else offered at rooms-to-go, I specifically searched for a deep blue bedroom set with matching dresser and nightstands and this was the only option available, otherwise I would have gone through Ikea or Amazon furniture. This set is definitely gorgeous beyond belief so I was willing to keep the imperfections. To keep the headboard "as-is" they offered an 8% refund and removed warranty. At first they wanted to remove the warranty from my ENTIRE bedroom set which included the two nightstands and dresser which was infuriating because only the headboard was damaged, everything else was fine. I had to argue that to the representatives and they agreed to only refund the tiny amount from the bed cost and keep the warranty on the other products which amounted to about a $70 refund. Didn't even cover the sales tax. I'm not happy with their solution at all but I really like this set so I had to bite the bullet on this one so I kept it. The quality of the set is beautiful, as I mentioned, but very delicate. This is because the lacquer finish on it is very hard to keep pristine. I knew that going in, so I proactively purchased a clear vinyl table cover which I cut to the proper size to cover the tops. Boy am I glad I did because I have cats that like to hop on top and their claws will EASILY leave scratches on lacquer as well as anything you put on the tabletop like jewelry, even books or lamps. Anything will leave a scuff mark on such a smooth lacquer finish. Covering with a clear vinyl table cloth is like putting a screen protector on your phone, do your due diligence to keep things clean as long as possible without taking away from the aesthetics. I was also worried about the shape of the feet, they way they are angled and curved like bug legs made me think they would have no support at all and would easily snap. That may be true for the night stands (don't try putting anything heavy like a tv on them and definitely don't sit on them) but the bed frame wasn't a worry after all because it's not attached to the steel frame of the bed at all. I thought the mattress would rest on the frame using slats or a box spring but no, it's two separate pieces so there's no weight on those legs. The dresser on the other hand has a fifth support leg directly centered underneath so that helps distribute the weight. I have a 55" TV sitting on it, I'm confident it won't break. By the way, I also installed some felt pads on my TV stand to make sure the weight was cushioned and would easily slide around without digging into the vinyl or the top of the dresser. Overall: Beautiful set, no doubt. But will quickly become scuffed and damaged aesthetically speaking unless you're aware of the problem and how to take care of it so it can stay pretty for as long as possible.
