Q&A answers generated with AI assistance.

Is this bunk bed safe for younger children and what are the safety features?

Safety is a primary design element of this bunk bed, which is constructed from solid New Zealand pine wood and finished with a durable, non-toxic, low-VOC coating to ensure healthy indoor air quality. The top bunk is equipped with 15-inch guardrails to provide significant sleep security. Following standard safety guidelines, we recommend the top bunk for children aged six and older.

What are the mattress thickness requirements for the bunk and trundle?

To maintain the effectiveness of the safety guardrails, the top twin mattress should be between 5 and 8 inches thick. The bottom full-size bunk can accommodate a standard full mattress. The pull-out trundle is designed to fit a standard twin-size mattress with a maximum thickness of 6 inches to ensure it slides smoothly under the bed frame when not in use.

Do I need to purchase a separate box spring or bunkie board for this bed?

No additional foundation is required. This bed includes a comprehensive slat roll system and a metal support bar, providing a stable and flat surface for your mattresses. This design not only saves you the cost of a box spring but also helps maintain a lower profile, which is ideal for maximizing headroom between the bunks.

Can this bunk bed support the weight of an adult or older teenager?

Yes. This bed is engineered for exceptional durability, featuring a resting weight capacity of 400 pounds per sleeping surface. This high capacity is achieved through the use of solid wood construction, robust plywood slats, and a metal support bar, making it a reliable choice for children, teens, and even adults.

How does the material and finish of this bed hold up over time?

Crafted from solid New Zealand pine, this bed is built from a dense, high-quality wood known for its resistance to warping and long-term stability. The rustic gray finish is designed to showcase the natural variations in the wood grain, which helps to naturally mask the minor scuffs and wear that often occur in a high-energy kids' environment. To maintain the finish, our care experts recommend regular dusting with a soft, dry cloth.

Is this bunk bed suitable for a bedroom with standard 8-foot ceilings?

This model is an excellent choice for rooms with standard 8-foot (96-inch) ceilings. With a total assembled height of 63.25 inches, it leaves approximately 32 inches of space between the top of the bed and the ceiling. This provides ample headroom for a child to sit up comfortably on the top bunk, assuming a recommended 5-to-8-inch mattress is used.

Solid bunkbed choice

Purchased On Oct 5, 2024

I’m very impressed by the quality of this bunkbed. It’s sturdier than expected and having the metal connector really gives it strength to the top and bottom beds. Assembly using a drill is key to success, as hand spinning all the bolts would have taken days. Overall way better than expected!

Misinformed

Purchased On Sep 19, 2024

I ordered this a few ago and was told that someone from Rooms To Go would be coming over to assemble it since I was moving at the time. Now I'm being told that it's a self assembly. The movers who moved the couch in said that Rooms To Go does assemble but again being told they don't. To be honest I'm not impressed with the communication and don't know if I would be buying from Rooms To Go again.
