You'll Love Kingsdown
Kingsdown foundations are meticulously hand assembled using sustainably sourced Canadian Spruce, which is exceptionally durable. Each piece of lumber is not only heat-treated, but kiln-dried, which improves the performance of the wood over time. Each wooden slat is placed more closely together and cut a full inch wider than most manufacturers to provide a sturdier base.

Q&A answers generated with AI assistance.
What is the recommended way to maintain the fabric upholstery on this foundation?
Based on our expertise in furniture care, we recommend vacuuming the fabric surface regularly with an upholstery attachment to prevent dust and allergen buildup. For any minor spills or stains, spot clean with a soft cloth using a mixture of mild soap and water, then allow the fabric to air dry completely. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, as they can damage the fabric fibers.
Can this foundation help make a small bedroom feel larger?
For those living in urban apartments or smaller homes, a low profile foundation is a smart design choice. By lowering the overall height of the bed, you create more "negative space" or visible wall area above the mattress. This helps the room feel more open and airy rather than being dominated by a bulky furniture setup.
Is this foundation sturdy enough to support a heavy memory foam or hybrid mattress?
Yes, this foundation is engineered for superior strength and stability. It is hand-assembled using sustainably sourced Canadian Spruce, a wood prized for its durability. Unlike standard bases, the slats on this foundation are cut a full inch wider and placed more closely together to provide a much sturdier platform that can easily support the weight of modern high-density mattresses.
What is the benefit of choosing a low profile foundation over a standard one?
A low profile foundation, like this 5-inch model, is designed to reduce the overall height of your bed without compromising support. This is particularly beneficial if you have a modern bed frame with a high headboard you don't want to obscure, or if you are using a thick, premium mattress that would sit too high on a traditional 9-inch base.
How does the construction of this foundation prevent wood warping or squeaking over time?
To ensure long-term performance, the lumber used in this foundation is both heat-treated and kiln-dried. This specialized process removes excess moisture from the wood, which significantly reduces the risk of warping, cracking, or shrinking—common causes of bed noise and structural failure in lower-quality foundations.
Is a low profile foundation a safe choice for a child's first "big kid" bed?
This is an excellent choice for children transitioning from a crib. The 5-inch profile keeps the mattress closer to the floor, making it much easier and safer for small children to get in and out of bed independently. This lower center of gravity also provides peace of mind for parents, as it minimizes the distance of any accidental falls.

My dog can jump on the bed again

We have used a standard Tempur Pedic foundation for years. As the mattresses got thicker, our bed got taller and the little dog got older. She needed help into the bed every night. I ordered this ultra low profile foundation to help the problem. It is 4 inches lower than the last one and it even makes the room look larger. Little Goldie can jump up just fine now and it is easier for us to get in and out of. Wish I would have done this sooner.

Damaged Delivered Box, Missing Essential Frame Part
Ordered the king Tempurpedic mattress frame. Delivered by UPS with both ends of the box torn open. Unfortunately, one expander bar, essential for assembly, is missing and therefore have to postpone delivery of our mattress by 5-7 days due to filling out a missing parts form and getting the part via UPS. I have photos of the box, however, no place to upload them. Hopefully there will be some accountability by UPS.

No trial period, not a great product
This review was collected as part of a promotion
I have had Tempur-pedics for 20+ years and I’ve always liked the mattresses. However, this is different. There is no 90-day trial period so if you buy and don’t like it, you’re stuck. Huge, tacky patches with the logo on multiple sides. Very cheap quality material. Not what I have come to expect from Tempur-pedic.
