Q&A answers generated with AI assistance.
What makes the construction of this bed durable enough for active children?
This bed is engineered from solid New Zealand pine wood, a dense and high-quality material known for its long-term structural integrity. To further enhance stability, the frame utilizes solid plywood slats reinforced by a metal support bar. This robust construction allows for a 400-pound resting weight capacity per sleeping surface, making it sturdy enough to safely accommodate everyone from growing children to adults.
Are the finishes used on this furniture safe for a child’s environment?
Protecting your home's air quality is a priority. This bed features a durable, non-toxic, and low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) finish. Choosing low-VOC furniture helps reduce chemical emissions in your child's bedroom, providing a safer environment for sleep and play.
Is this bunk bed suitable for a room with low ceilings or a smaller urban apartment?
Yes, this model is an ideal solution for rooms with limited vertical space. At 63.25 inches tall, it is shorter than many standard bunk beds, providing more "headroom" between the top bunk and the ceiling in homes with 8-foot or lower ceilings. Its compact twin-over-twin footprint helps maximize floor space in shared bedrooms or smaller urban layouts.
How does the trundle feature provide extra sleeping space?
The included trundle (74.5"L x 40.75"W x 10.5"H) tucks neatly under the bottom bunk and rolls out easily for sleepovers or as a permanent third bed in a shared room. It is designed to fit a standard low-profile twin-size mattress up to 6 inches thick, offering an efficient sleeping solution without taking up permanent floor space.
What is the recommended age for a child to use the top bunk?
For safety, children should be at least 6 years old before sleeping on the top bunk. This bed is designed with 15-inch guardrails to provide significant security for the top sleeper, ensuring the safety of older children and teens.
What mattress thickness should be used to ensure the safety rails work correctly?
To maintain the effectiveness of the 15-inch safety guardrails, we recommend a mattress thickness of 5 inches, and it should never exceed 8 inches. Using a low-profile mattress ensures that the safety barrier remains high enough above the sleeping surface to prevent accidental falls.
Does this bed require a box spring or bunkie board?
No, a box spring or bunkie board is not required for this model. The bed includes a complete slat roll system and a metal support bar that provides direct, reliable support for your mattresses. This design not only saves you the additional cost of a foundation but also helps keep the mattress height within a safe range for the top bunk guardrails.

Solid bunkbed choice
I’m very impressed by the quality of this bunkbed. It’s sturdier than expected and having the metal connector really gives it strength to the top and bottom beds. Assembly using a drill is key to success, as hand spinning all the bolts would have taken days. Overall way better than expected!
Misinformed
I ordered this a few ago and was told that someone from Rooms To Go would be coming over to assemble it since I was moving at the time. Now I'm being told that it's a self assembly. The movers who moved the couch in said that Rooms To Go does assemble but again being told they don't. To be honest I'm not impressed with the communication and don't know if I would be buying from Rooms To Go again.
Great Kids bunk
Not a good choice for a fatty like me but my grandkids love it.
