If you’re looking for a company that knows how to sell expensive furniture but forgets what “customer service” means the moment something goes wrong, Rooms To Go is a perfect choice. I spent over $6,000 expecting quality furniture and the confidence that a warranty would actually protect my purchase. Instead, I learned that a warranty is apparently only valuable until you try to use it. My Tempur-Pedic mattress developed a 2-inch body impression, and even their own technician confirmed the defect. The warranty claim was approved, yet I was told I could only choose a replacement up to my original purchase price. Conveniently, Rooms To Go no longer carries many comparable Tempur-Pedic models in that price range. So after acknowledging the mattress is defective, their solution is essentially, “Good luck finding something.” That’s an impressive way to honor a warranty—approve the claim, then make it nearly impossible to receive an equivalent replacement. To make matters worse, there was no urgency whatsoever. Apparently, once they have your money, sleeping on a defective mattress becomes your problem. There was no meaningful effort to expedite the process or offer a practical solution. The store manager, Matthew Tabor, was equally disappointing. I expected someone who would advocate for the customer and try to resolve the issue fairly. Instead, I left feeling like my concerns were treated as little more than an inconvenience. Customer satisfaction seemed far less important than following a script. Companies love advertising “peace of mind” and “standing behind their products.” That’s easy to say when everything is working. The real test is what happens when something fails—and in my experience, Rooms To Go failed that test completely. For a company that sells premium-priced furniture, the after-sale experience feels anything but premium. If this is how they treat customers with approved warranty claims, I can only imagine how difficult other issues must be. Save yourself the frustration. There are plenty of furniture stores that value their customers before and after the sale. Unfortunately, I no longer believe Rooms To Go is one of them.
